Are you an inspiring Lipreading Tutor with a passion for supporting adults with hearing loss to communicate confidently and reconnect with the world around them?

Join City Lit's highly respected Centre for Deaf Education, home to one of the largest and longest running programmes of lipreading and hearing loss management courses in the UK. Our courses help adults adjust to acquired hearing loss, develop practical communication strategies, and build confidence in everyday listening situations. You'll be joining an Ofsted 'outstanding' rated college that enriches the lives of over 30,000 learners across London and beyond every year.

Our Lipreading programme offers daytime, evening, weekday and weekend courses that take place both face to face and online, delivered by a dedicated team of specialist tutors. As part of this community, you will play a vital role in empowering adults to develop lipreading skills, manage their hearing loss, and overcome barriers to communication.

We are currently seeking tutors to deliver the following face-to-face Lipreading courses:

  • GL303 Lipreading and managing hearing loss: beginners module 1, every Wednesday between 22/04/2026 - 01/07/2026, 14:00 - 16:00
  • GL312 Lipreading and managing hearing loss: beginners module 1, every Wednesday between 22/04/2026 - 01/07/2026, 18:00 - 20:00

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of teaching Lipreading and managing hearing loss to groups of adults with acquired hearing loss.
  • To have completed and passed the City Lit Lipreading Teacher Training course.
  • Have up to date knowledge, enthusiasm and interest for the subject of hearing loss including excellent knowledge of lipreading theory.
  • Experience of teaching lipreading face-to-face.
  • Can teach in a way that ensures inclusion of all students with hearing loss and/or other learning needs.
