You'll be joining a highly supportive estimating team, working across a wide range of high-end mechanical projects including cost plans, design & build tenders and fully designed schemes.

Your new role
As Junior Mechanical Estimator, you'll be involved in the full tendering cycle and will get hands on experience from day one. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the estimating team with mechanical take offs, measuring materials and equipment from drawings and specifications.
  • Assist in preparing tenders from initial enquiry through to handover, taking responsibility for smaller packages with guidance from senior estimators.
  • Send out enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers, chase quotations, and help compile pricing information.
  • Help prepare basic commercial documents, including schedules of rates, cost summaries and tender breakdowns.
  • Highlight any value-engineering opportunities, design discrepancies or potential risks you spot during take offs, referring them to senior team members for review.
  • Contribute to building strong working relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors, representing the company professionally.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, keep files organised, and ensure good communication across the team throughout the tendering process.

What you'll need to succeed
The team is looking for someone who brings:

  • 1-2 years' experience in a mechanical estimating role, or a mechanical/building services background with exposure to the commercial/tendering process.
  • Hold a mechanical trades qualification (plumbing/pipefitting/HVAC) or a building services-related qualification
  • Strong attention to detail and solid numerical ability.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to build effective supplier and client relationships.
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop within the estimating function.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and work to tight tender deadlines.

What you'll get in return

  • A clear pathway for development within a growing commercial team.
  • Exposure to a broad mix of mechanical projects.
  • Ongoing training and mentorship from experienced estimators.
  • A competitive salary package depending on experience.
