Job Description

Overview

Our client is a fast-growing, international provider of insurance and savings solutions, preparing for an IPO later this year. This will be the first Group General Counsel appointment and represents a rare opportunity to join the business at a pivotal point in its evolution.

Based in the London head office and reporting to the Group CFO, the Group General Counsel will take ownership of the legal function, acting as a trusted adviser to the Board and senior leadership team. A key focus of the role will be supporting and executing the IPO, alongside establishing robust governance and listed-company frameworks.

Responsibilities

The role will cover a broad corporate remit, including oversight of group governance and company secretarial matters, M&A and strategic transactions, management of external counsel, and providing pragmatic legal advice across the business. While the emphasis is on corporate and listed company work, the role will also oversee areas such as litigation and other non-contentious matters as required.

Qualifications / Requirements

The business is entrepreneurial, high-pace and ambitious, and is looking for a senior lawyer who will thrive in this type of environment. Candidates will need strong listed company experience, excellent commercial judgement and the ability to operate confidently at Board level.

Opportunity / About the role

This is an outstanding opportunity to shape a legal function and play a central role in a high-profile IPO.
