Driver Hire Southampton is looking for a reliable and motivated Food Production Operative. This hands-on role will be working with one of our well establish clients in the food industry, you will be supporting their warehouse and freezer operations, ensuring products are received, stored, packed, and delivered efficiently - every day is different, fast-paced, and rewarding! About the Role: Working hours are 2:00pm - 8:30pm Monday to Friday (No Weekend Work) Ongoing contract- for the right person there may be an opportunity to secure a permanent role Key Responsibilities: Follow all warehouse and freezer procedures to maintain safe and efficient operations Keep the warehouse clean and organised according to schedules Manage incoming and outgoing deliveries and collections Ensure all goods receipting and dispatch documentation is accurate Maintain correct stock rotation Carry out bulk packing of products when required Pick, pack, and prepare orders ready for delivery Assist the logistics team with driving duties when needed What We're Looking For: Experience in warehouse/logistics, food production or operations environment Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures Excellent organisational and time-management skills A team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment A proactive, can-do attitude to help across the team Full UK driving licence (held for 12+ months) Maximum of 6 penalty points (no major convictions) Why Join Us? What you'll be doing: As a Logistics Operative, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): Performing basic checks on trucks, including topping up or changing batteries and gas bottles, and reporting any defects or concerns. Ensuring Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Clean As You Go (CAYG) procedures are followed using manual and mechanical tools as necessary, while maintaining a clean and tidy work area. Observing health and safety protocols in a busy environment with both pedestrians and vehicles. Communicating effectively with Supervisors, Managers, Drivers, and Visitors. Taking responsibility for allocated tasks and ensuring their completion. Working across various environments, including freezer, chill, ambient areas, and outdoor settings (appropriate Personal Protective Equipment will be provided). Providing Forklift Truck (FLT) support to other departments as needed. Loading and unloading vehicles. Storing stock in designated areas. Issuing stock to the production line. Receiving training on relevant systems and procedures. What we're looking for: The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes: A valid Counterbalance Forklift license with at least 12 months of experience. The ability to work unsupervised. A calm demeanour under pressure. Excellent attention to detail. A collaborative team spirit. Flexibility to work in all required areas. Physical capability to lift weights of up to 25kg, demonstrating a reasonable level of fitness. Willingness to work in temperatures as low as -18 degrees when required . Desirable but Not Essential: A Flexi/Bendi truck license (training can be provided for the right candidate). Experience with warehouse scanners and order picking processes.
