Job Description

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled English Tutor to deliver high-quality tuition to multiple KS3 and KS4 students, including GCSE English Language and Literature. The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging sessions that support progress, exam confidence, and independent learning skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver structured English tuition for KS3 and KS4 students
  • Prepare students for GCSE English Language and English Literature exams
  • Adapt teaching to meet a range of abilities, including SEND/SEMH needs
  • Use assessment and feedback to track progress and inform planning
  • Create a positive, supportive learning environment that promotes confidence
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers and the centre manager
  • Maintain accurate session records and contribute to progress reviews
  • Uphold LLH safeguarding, behaviour, and quality standards
Person Specification

Essential:

  • Strong subject knowledge in KS3 and KS4 English
  • Experience teaching or tutoring secondary-aged students
  • Confident delivery of GCSE English Language and/or Literature content
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches to individual learners
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check

Desirable:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or relevant English degree
  • Experience with exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, etc.)
  • Experience supporting students with SEND or additional learning needs
  • Familiarity with evidence-based tutoring approaches
