Seasonal Play Garden Attendants (Magic Garden)


Department: Gardens & Estates
Status: Temporary / Seasonal
Location: Hampton Court Palace
Salary: £28,909 per annum pro rata, plus AHS (£1,606 pro rata). Based on a basic hourly rate of £17.30 (plus AHS). Our client intends to continue honouring the London Living Wage increase from 1 April 2026.
Hours: 38 hours per week, end of March to end of October 2026

Positions available: Two full-time roles, including weekends and bank holidays

About the Role

They have an exciting seasonal opportunity to join their team as Play Garden Attendants.

Their Magic Garden is designed to engage, inspire, excite, and surprise their young visitors and their families, providing a fun and stimulating experience that the whole family can explore together, with elements that appeal to adults as well as children. Their Magic Garden offers children a stimulating and challenging environment for them to explore and develop their abilities. As the Play Garden Attendant, you will provide a presence in the Garden to ensure this can be explored safely.

Your main duties will involve:

• Acting as the first point of contact for visitors
• Maintaining and checking play equipment
• Supporting the upkeep of plants, garden features, and play areas
• Helping to manage visitor flow and identifying over-capacity or congestion issues
• Keeping the garden and play spaces clean, tidy, and safe
• Communicating the Magic Garden guidelines clearly and confidently
• Liaising with the Garden Management team

About You

They are looking for responsible individuals with strong customer service skills, who can confidently engage with all visitors and help them enjoy this unique family play area, and who have a suitable level of fitness in order to carry out the fundamental requirements of the job profile.

They are ideally seeking someone who has some experience of working in a children's care or play environment and has also gained some first aid and customer relation skills. A recent DBS check is important as is a willingness to help them maintain the gardens and water features.

As the garden will be open seven days a week at the very peak season, there will be a requirement to work weekends and bank holidays as part of a rota basis.
