St Helen's Church of England School - North Devon
Headteacher (Permanent Role - 1.0 FTE)
Salary Scale - Leadership Scale L12 - L19 with £5k Relocation Package
September 2026 or January 2027 Start
We have an exciting opportunity for a new Headteacher to lead St Helen's C of E School, located just outside of Bideford, as it transfers into the Learning Academy Partnership from Alumnis Multi-Academy Trust. It is an exciting time for the school but also one of change for children, colleagues, parents and the community. This is a joint recruitment with Alumnis as the school will be transferring between Trusts in the summer term.
We are offering a £5,000 relocation package for candidates relocating from outside Devon or Cornwall.
St Helen's is in a period of change, and we are seeking a Headteacher who can manage not only the change for the parents, children and colleagues but also ensure a strong curriculum offer delivering inclusive practice, effective pedagogical practice and outcomes in place, and that it unashamedly privileges the most underserved children.
The Learning Academy Partnership is driven by mission and beliefs ensuring that every child has the right to live life to the full. We are committed to improving educational outcomes for underserved children across the South-West and breaking down barriers to social mobility. Our Headteachers achieve this through a rich, vibrant curriculum delivered by excellent teachers.
You will be joining a strong, single organisation, culture of collective efficacy and one that is rooted in our Christian foundation. We are passionate about our role in social justice in our communities and tackling stubborn South West deprivation.
As a Church School leader, you will uphold and develop the school's Christian distinctiveness through its educational offer. We welcome applicants with or without prior experience of leading a Church school. We offer full induction and support as you embark on a journey as a church school leader.
You will benefit from excellent systems and support from the Business Support team who manage all aspects of the operations, leaving you space to lead teaching and learning. You will also join a local hub as well as the wider partnership of schools where you will be part of hard-wired inter-dependence and collaboration with a shared responsibility to all children in the Trust. We do operate as islands; we care deeply about each other's schools and communities.
Our Headteachers and colleagues are rooted in their communities and work hard to serve their children, and successful candidates will be able to ensure this relationship with pupils and the community continue to flourish.
St Helen's is a wonderful school ready to take the next big step on its journey and the new Headteacher has a wonderful opportunity to work with pupils, parents, colleagues and the community to continue the St Helen's journey as it transfers from Alumnis Multi-Academy Trust to the Learning Academy Partnership.
We want to support you in deciding if we are the right trust for you. If you would like to arrange a visit to the school, we are offering visits with our Trust Lead / Deputy Trust Lead on Wednesday 11th February and Tuesday 3rd March 2026. Please contact our People Team on to book your visit.
