A well-regarded manufacturer near Newmarket is looking to grow its engineering team by bringing in a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer. Focusing on high-spec antennas for global commercial, military, and satellite applications, the company is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented professional to support the full product lifecycle, from initial concept through to production.

Salary & Hours:

  • Circa 30,000 - 40,000, depending on experience
  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Monday to Thursday: 08:30-17:00, early finish on Fridays

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Designing new mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD (SolidWorks)
  • Creating engineering drawings in line with BS8888 and ISO standards
  • Supporting prototype builds, testing, and validation of mechanical performance
  • Performing tolerance analysis and applying Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles
  • Supporting production through documentation, updates, and engineering changes
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives across tools, processes, and quality
  • Collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to deliver innovative solutions

What We're Looking For:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline)
  • Some experience in mechanical product design, ideally supporting medium-to-high volume manufacturing
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD - SolidWorks preferred
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing techniques
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or within a team
