SEN Teacher - Communication Difficulties (KS2)

Location: Maidstone, Kent



About the Role

Academics are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join a specialist SEN provision in Maidstone, supporting pupils with communication difficulties. This role involves delivering a KS2 curriculum that is carefully adapted to meet the individual needs of learners, helping them to thrive both academically and emotionally.

You will work with small class sizes from 5-10 in a group, supported by experienced teaching assistants and a multidisciplinary team, in a nurturing and structured environment.



Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with the KS2 National Curriculum

  • Support pupils with communication needs, including speech, language, and social interaction difficulties

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

  • Use a range of strategies and interventions to support communication and learning

  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and reports

  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, families, and external professionals



About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS (or equivalent teaching qualification)

  • Has experience teaching KS2, ideally within an SEN or specialist setting

  • Has a strong understanding of communication difficulties (e.g. SLCN, ASD)

  • Is patient, creative, and committed to inclusive education

  • Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with colleagues and parents
