Job Description

An established, employee-owned Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy operating across the UK and internationally is seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Structural Engineer to support continued growth within its building structures team in Leeds. The Consultancy works across all major development sectors, delivering projects from early site appraisal and acquisition through to construction completion, and is recognised for its high-quality technical output, collaborative working style and intelligent, pragmatic design solutions.

The successful individual will join a multidisciplinary environment at the forefront of the built environment, contributing to the delivery of complex building structures projects across both public and private sectors. The role presents a clear opportunity for career progression towards senior management or Director level within a progressive and forward-thinking Consultancy that actively invests in its people, technology and long-term leadership development.

The position requires a Chartered or Incorporated Structural Engineer, or an individual approaching chartered or incorporated status, with a minimum of ten years' relevant experience in the delivery of building structures projects. A proven track record of successfully delivering construction projects with values up to approximately 75m is essential. The role demands strong technical capability, with demonstrable experience in detailed structural design and the use of industry-standard analysis and design software, alongside the ability to oversee projects from concept through to completion.

In addition to technical excellence, the Senior / Principal Structural Engineer will play a key role in project leadership, coordinating the work of project engineers, graduates and technicians, and managing projects across multiple disciplines. Regular engagement with clients, fellow consultants and contractors will be expected, requiring clear communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach. The role also involves contributing to business development activities, representing the Consultancy externally and supporting the continued expansion of its client base.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong mentoring and leadership capabilities, a collaborative mindset and a genuine passion for the construction industry and the built environment. A flexible, "can-do" attitude, coupled with sound commercial awareness and the ability to manage competing priorities, is essential. A full UK driving licence is required due to project and site commitments.

The Consultancy offers a competitive, market-leading salary alongside a comprehensive benefits package reflective of its employee-owned structure. Benefits include opportunities for equity participation and tax-efficient bonuses linked to business performance, flexible working arrangements, generous annual leave allowances with the option to sell back unused days, employer pension contributions and private healthcare provision. Ongoing professional development is strongly supported, including funding for professional qualifications, mentoring schemes and the payment of one professional subscription. Additional wellbeing initiatives, social events and a supportive working culture form an integral part of the employee experience.

This role represents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Structural Engineer seeking long-term career progression within a high-quality Engineering Consultancy that values technical excellence, collaboration and sustainable growth.
