Outreach Tutor (Autism Support)
ASAP Start Barking & Dagenham
4 hours per day (2 hours per student) Term-Time
We are currently seeking a female Outreach Tutor to work 1:1 with two primary-aged students (Year 5/6) with Autism in their home environments. One student is based in Barking and the other in Dagenham. The role will involve 2 hours per day with each student, offering consistent, structured support tailored to their individual needs.
This is a rewarding role for someone who is patient, calm, and experienced in supporting autistic learners using communication strategies such as Makaton and visual aids.
Delivering 1:1 educational support within the student's home
Using Makaton, visual timetables, and visual prompts to support communication and understanding
Planning and delivering structured, engaging sessions appropriate for Year 5/6 learners
Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour in a calm, consistent manner
Building trusting relationships with students and families
Working closely with professionals to follow individual support plans
Is female (as requested by the families)
Has experience working with children with Autism
Is confident using Makaton and visual aids
Is calm, patient, and adaptable
Has experience tutoring or working in education, SEN, or outreach settings
Is able to travel between Barking and Dagenham (parking is available at both locations)
