Job Description

The Role

As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons that develop students reading, writing and communication skills. Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality, differentiated English lessons in line with the national curriculum

  • Teaching English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience welcomed where applicable)

  • Encouraging a love of reading, writing and critical thinking

  • Assessing, monitoring and tracking student progress to support achievement

  • Creating a calm, inclusive and purposeful classroom environment

  • Working collaboratively with the Head of English, Teaching Assistants and wider staff

  • Adapting teaching to support students with SEND, EAL or additional learning needs

  • Building strong relationships with students, parents and colleagues

  • Contributing to enrichment activities such as reading initiatives, writing clubs or intervention programmes

About You

We are looking for an English Teacher who is:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred ECTs and experienced teachers encouraged to apply

  • Confident teaching English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4

  • Passionate about literacy and student progress

  • Calm, reflective and consistent in their approach to behaviour management

  • A strong communicator who works effectively within a team

  • Organised, adaptable and confident in managing classroom routines
