Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and committed Music Teacher to join our academy. You will deliver a broad, balanced, and differentiated curriculum, inspire students, and support their academic and personal development. Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality Music lessons across KS3 and KS4, ensuring lessons are engaging, differentiated, and inclusive.
  • Monitor and support student progress and development, acting as a form tutor to a designated group of students.
  • Contribute to operational and strategic planning within the department, including curriculum development, lesson resources, and departmental improvement plans.
  • Participate in professional development and engage fully in the Performance Management Review process.
  • Maintain appropriate records of student progress and achievement, using management information systems effectively.
  • Communicate positively with students, parents, staff, and external agencies to support learning and student engagement.
  • Promote a safe, motivating, and inclusive learning environment in line with academy policies.
Person Specification / What We Are Looking For:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Experience teaching Music at secondary level; teaching practice is acceptable.
  • Strong understanding of effective teaching and learning, including differentiation and assessment strategies.
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum requirements at KS3 and KS4 and experience developing resources and lesson plans.
  • Ability to motivate students, raise aspirations, and create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Good ICT skills, including use of interactive whiteboards and digital learning tools.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to the wider life of the academy.
  • Experience in multi-ethnic urban schools or 11-18 settings is desirable.
