The Role In this role you will be responsible for the day to day operational effectiveness of the group's research, as well as designing and performing experiments and analysing data. A key part of this role is performing mutant screens and organising mutant populations to identify and catalogue novel mutants. It therefore requires excellent attention to detail. The Ideal Candidate Candidates must have a background in plant science; a PhD in developmental biology or related fields is highly advantageous. Expertise in care and management of Arabidopsis thaliana is necessary, as is experience with performing EMS mutagenesis and organising a forward genetic screen. Experience with molecular biology, confocal microscopy and histology are also preferred, alongside a willingness and ability to learn and work with new methodologies and different species. The successful applicant will be a strong team player, highly solution oriented, self motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and outstanding record keeping. Experience supervising students and teaching experimental techniques is strongly preferred. This year our London office will run a dedicated social class paid work-experience scheme for aspiring photographers and photojournalists from working-class backgrounds . Successful applicants will spend four weeks in our London office during June, July, September or October, shadowing our photographers and picture editors, and learning about different aspects of photography across our editorial departments. You will also have an experienced journalist as a mentor to offer careers advice. To ensure this scheme supports those who need it most, applicants must have: Attended state school or college for the entirety of your education, AND at least one of the following criteria to qualify as being from a working-class background: The occupation of your main household earner when you were aged 14 is categorised as working class (see below ), OR Whilst at school you were eligible for free school meals, OR Your parents did not attend university. ICT/Computer Science Teacher Grateley House School, Andover Contract type: Permanent Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum 40 hours a week Start date: ASAP Grateley House School is a specialist day school for children and young people aged 11-19 with a diagnosis of autism and other associated needs. We are seeking a dynamic, committed, and innovative educator to take on the role of ICT Teacher. The school delivers the National Curriculum and students are supported to access a range of subjects by experienced subject teachers and teaching assistants, with input from a therapy team. The successful candidate will ensure that our students engage in learning and are equipped with all the tools they need to progress.
