Learning mentor - SEMH

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH secondary school in Bolton for a dedicated Learning Mentor to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.

This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop positive behaviours, confidence and resilience.

• Supporting students with SEMH needs both in the classroom and through targeted interventions

• Working 1:1 and in small groups to support emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement

• Building trusted, consistent relationships with pupils who may present with challenging behaviour

• Supporting pupils during moments of dysregulation and helping them re-engage with learning

• Implementing behaviour support strategies and individual plans

• Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals

• Promoting positive behaviour, attendance and social development

• DBS on the Update Service (essential)

• Available full time and committed to a long-term placement

• Proven experience supporting young people with SEMH needs

• Calm, patient and highly resilient in challenging situations

• Confident managing behaviour and de-escalating conflict

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

• Experience in SEMH schools, PRUs, alternative provision, youth work or care settings is highly desirable

• Full-time, stable role within a supportive SEMH setting
