Technical Manager About our client:
The Technical Manager will lead the daily operations of the Quality Assurance department, working closely with the Operations Director and the Far East Team. This role is critical for achieving the company s quality, ethical, technical, and sustainability objectives, ensuring total product integrity and legal compliance across all products and operations. The role also provides cross-functional support to Marketing, Product Management, Customer Service, and Administration teams.

Technical Manager Details:

  • Fully office-based role overseeing operational compliance, quality assurance, and supplier management across all product categories
  • Directly manage relationships with Far East suppliers, including China, ensuring adherence to quality, technical, and regulatory standards
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams including Marketing, Product Management, Customer Service, Operations, and Administration
  • Due to the remote location, the candidate must have a full driving licence and own car

Technical Manager Responsibilities:

  • Lead quality assurance across all product categories, implementing APQP principles, SQAS, and inspections (DUPRO/FRI).
  • Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, and supplier audits, liaising with testing laboratories to resolve compliance issues.
  • Ensure full UK/EU regulatory, ethical, and sustainability compliance, maintaining robust documentation and traceability.
  • Act as the primary contact for Far East suppliers, external regulatory bodies, and certification schemes.
  • Support Marketing, Product Management, and Customer Service with product sourcing, NPD, artwork compliance, and complaint analysis.
  • Monitor legislative changes, ethical standards, and environmental policies, providing guidance to senior leadership and operational teams.

Technical Manager What We re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Manager, ideally in a retail environment or supplying large retailers
  • Experience working with Far East suppliers, including China (non-negotiable)
  • Knowledge of AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) and British Standards (non-negotiable)
  • Understanding of packaging compliance, including UK/EU regulations (non-negotiable)
  • Exposure to lighting products or outdoor furnishings is advantageous
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills across Operations, Marketing, Product Management, Customer Service, and Administration
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Full driving licence and own car essential
