Assistant Town Planner

Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be supporting a well respected planning consultancy in their search for an Assistant Town Planner to join their growing team in Reading.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Town Planner looking to build a strong foundation in consultancy planning, working across a wide range of development projects and gaining experience alongside experienced planners.
As an Assistant Town Planner, you will support the planning team on a variety of projects from early appraisal through to determination.
Key responsibilities include:
Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications
Undertaking planning research and site appraisals
Supporting appeals and Local Plan representations
Liaising with local authorities, consultees and clients
Monitoring planning policy and legislative changes
Providing general support to senior planners across multiple projects
The ideal Assistant Town Planner will have:
A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline
Some experience within a planning consultancy or local authority (desirable)
A good understanding of the UK planning system
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
The ability to work effectively as part of a team
