We are supporting a global engineering and manufacturing group in the Birmingham area with the appointment of an HR Graduate. This role is specifically designed for a recent graduate looking to start their career in Human Resources within a structured, professional environment.
Due to group-level requirements, this position is suitable for candidates with less than 12 months of post-graduate experience. Applications from those with several years HR experience are unlikely to be progressed.
The successful candidate will support both the operational and strategic activities of the HR function, gaining exposure across core HR administration, people initiatives, reporting, and continuous improvement projects.
Key responsibilitiesHR operations and administration
Provide day-to-day administrative support to the HR team
Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems in line with data protection requirements
Support absence management processes, including data recording, monitoring, and reporting
Draft HR documentation such as contracts, offer letters, and standard employee correspondence
Act as a first point of contact for routine HR queries, escalating more complex matters as required
Support onboarding and induction processes to ensure a positive employee experience
Assist with performance management and talent development activities
HR projects, reporting and improvement
Support HR initiatives aligned with business and people strategy
Assist in the preparation of HR data, reports, and workforce insights
Contribute to employee engagement initiatives and surveys
Support the review and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and guidance
Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, documentation, and systems
Participate in HR projects, audits, and continuous improvement activity
Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
Clear, professional written communication skills
Analytical mindset with an interest in process improvement
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft Office; exposure to HR systems is advantageous
Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related discipline
Under 12 months post-graduate experience (essential)
Placement year, internship, or administrative experience is beneficial but not essential
CIPD Level 3 or working towards a CIPD qualification is desirable
Strong interest in HR operations and people development
Proactive, organised, and detail-focused
