Job Vacancy Vehicle Technician A position has become available for a Vehicle Technician to join our vehicle maintenance team. Duties will include all types of vehicle repairs, working as part of a small team to keep our fleet of HGV's and Trailer's maintained to a high standard. Working on a fleet of HGVs to ensure they are roadworthy, prepping for MOTs, routine inspections, repairs and breakdowns, completing any relevant paperwork in relation to jobs done. Good phone manor is required as you may be required to make or receive calls throughout the day from drivers or parts company's. Understanding of basic Auto electrics and Fabrication is needed. You will need to have a City & Guilds at Level Three in HGV Mechanic or similar with experience. Previous experience is required such as HGV Technician, LGV Fitter, HGV Engineer, LGV Mechanic, LGV Technician, HGV Fitter, HGV Mechanic, including trailers mainly SAF axles. Driving License is required for collecting parts or attending breakdowns. HGV License would be ideal but not essential. Working hours are 0800 until 1700 with 30mins for dinner Monday to Friday. Following a retirement within the team we have an exciting and rare opportunity available to work in the council's in-house vehicle, plant and equipment workshop in Crawley. This role offers a chance to work on all aspects of testing, maintenance and repair, working on a wide variety of vehicles and equipment from HGVs, Agricultural tractors, and sweepers to vans, cars, and ride on mowers to handheld tools such as chainsaws and strimmer's. The position therefore requires a thorough and up to date knowledge and experience of all aspects of road transport engineering typically gained from a recognised apprenticeship including: electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic disciplines with an understanding of the relevant legal requirements. You will work closely with users of these assets to help them understand how to keep their equipment properly maintained and operational, whilst minimising down time, so being customer focused with good communication and interpersonal skills is a prerequisite, along with having a positive and enthusiastic attitude. You will also have: Strong experience and knowledge in all aspects of road transport engineering, gained through a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent Considerable post qualification experience working within a Motor Vehicle Workshop/Commercial/Machinery repair environment or equivalent. A solid understanding of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. A full and current UK driving licence with entitlement up to 7.5t GVW (HGV licence). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach. A positive, enthusiastic attitude and the ability to work well within a team.
