Location: Dorking
Salary: 30,000 - 40,000 DOE
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

The Opportunity
Our client, a leading environmental consultancy, is looking for a Senior Ecologist to join their growing team in Dorking. This role offers the chance to take a leading position on a range of ecological projects, providing expertise and guidance across a diverse portfolio of clients.

As a Senior Ecologist, you will play a key role in shaping ecological strategies, mentoring junior staff, and delivering high-quality ecological advice and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate ecological surveys and assessments, including protected species and habitat surveys

  • Prepare ecological reports, Environmental Impact Assessments, and planning documents

  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies and biodiversity enhancement plans

  • Manage projects, budgets, and client relationships, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery

  • Mentor and support junior ecologists, sharing expertise and fostering professional development

  • Ensure all work complies with UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and industry best practice

About You

  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline

  • Significant experience in an ecological consultancy or similar role

  • Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and survey methodologies

  • Proven experience managing projects and supervising staff

  • Excellent report-writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Full UK driving licence
