Electrician (Heating Controls & Renewables) Job post summary Pay: 45,000.00- 55,000.00 per year Job Description: About the Role We are looking for an experienced Electrician with strong knowledge of heating controls to join our specialist team. This role is central to supporting our boiler, air conditioning, heat pump, and solar engineers. You will be responsible for electrical installations, fault-finding, and system integrations, ensuring high-quality service delivery across both traditional heating systems and renewable technologies. Key Responsibilities Carry out electrical installations, testing, and maintenance related to heating and renewable energy systems. Work closely with boiler, AC, heat pump, and solar engineers to provide electrical support. Install and configure heating controls, including: Spurs, thermostats, S-plan, Y-plan, and full system wiring. Assist with electrical supplies and connections for: Electric boilers (liaising with suppliers and ensuring correct installs). Air conditioning units . Heat pumps . Solar PV systems (desirable but not essential). Diagnose and resolve electrical and control faults quickly and effectively. Ensure all work complies with BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations) and relevant safety standards. Maintain accurate job documentation and communicate clearly with the wider team. Skills & Qualifications NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification. ECS/JIB card (preferred). Experience and full competence in heating controls (essential). Familiarity with spurs, thermostats, S-plan, Y-plan, and full system wiring (essential). Inspection & Testing qualification (2391 or equivalent) desirable. Knowledge of electrical supplies for boilers, AC, heat pumps, and solar PV systems. They are looking for an experienced Electrician who has the drive and organisational skills to enhance their team. They are the largest heat pump installer in the South East, and we also install solar PV, batteries and EV chargers. Key requirements: Electricians must hold the Electro technical Services NVQ at Level 2 Must have 18th Edition Must have a minimum of two years experience Knowledge of all UK regulations relating to electrical work on site Confident in reading and understanding schematics The candidate must be able to work as part of a team and be a confident individual who has the ability to work under their own initiative A current UK driving licence - there is alot of travel as our client operates throughout the South East Key responsibilities will include: Attending project sites to connect electrical supplies, both single phase and three phase, to the different renewable energy technologies (including heat pumps, solar PV systems, underfloor heating, fan coil units) Understanding all electrical aspects of their projects for both domestic and commercial projects Giving technical support to other people on site with regards to the regulations affecting electrical work Carrying out all work to extremely high standards of workmanship Adhering to time requirements our client works from 8am-4pm with an hour travelling each way on your own time. Approved Electrician Reports To: Operations Manager Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (on call rota for weekend working) Contract: Permanent Job Purpose: To carry out maintenance and remedial works on ground mount solar farms. The post holder will have a good working knowledge and experience of photovoltaic and ideally High voltage systems within the ground mount sector. You will demonstrate a good dexterity and confidence on using ac/dc electrical test equipment, to include mc4 crimpers and other tooling used within the solar PV industry. Key Responsibilities Includes: Installation of cabling and modules on the arrays. Terminate cables and connectors at DC and AC distribution boxes. Install cabling on monitoring and communication equipment (data logger, routers, sensors, etc.) Fault Identification on electrical components, comms equipment and monitoring equipment by means of testing. Carry out annual testing (String testing, DC main cable testing, IV curve testing and thermal imaging.) Carry out test and inspection of newly installed AC equipment in accordance with BS7671. Compile necessary reports and update the company's ticketing system. Manage Subcontractors onsite. Assist Asset/ Ops mangers with small works quotations. Work with electrical labourers, electricians, Asset & Site Managers. Carry out any H&S actions and routines as determined by client and company. Undertake any necessary training. Mentoring or Training other members of the team. Take part in the on-call rota for weekends. Skills and experience: Have an understanding of Microsoft Office, phone/tablet and document reporting structures. Have a basic understanding of Health & Safety standards and Regulations. At least two years working experience in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems for Solar PV sites. Hold a Level 3 Technical Certificate in Electrical Installation or equivalent. Hold a vocational qualification (NVQ LV3) in the electrical industry. National Electrotechnical Training (NET) AM2 certificate. Level3 BS7671:2018 (18th Ed). 2391 test and inspection desirable. ECS Electrician Card desirable. AP/SAP previous status desirable SMSTS desirable. HV/AP desirable.
