Job Description

Paul's Place (South West) Location: Bristol (hybrid) Time commitment: c.4 board meetings per year Unremunerated Expenses reimbursed

Paul's Place is a well-established charity supporting physically disabled adults to live independent, fulfilling lives. Following a £2m investment in a new, purpose-built Hub, the organisation is entering its next phase of growth and sustainability.

We are seeking a Trustee with strong business, strategy or growth experience to join our Board and help shape the charity's long-term direction.

The opportunity

This is a governance role, not an operational one. As a Trustee, you will work alongside a skilled Board and senior leadership team to:

  • Provide strategic challenge and oversight
  • Support sustainable growth and long-term financial resilience
  • Contribute commercial insight to decision-making
  • Help ensure strong governance, risk management and value for money
Who we're looking for

We are keen to hear from senior professionals with experience in areas such as:

  • Business strategy and organisational growth
  • Commercial leadership, finance or professional services
  • Scaling organisations, change management or sustainability
  • Senior decision-making in complex environments

You do not need prior trustee experience. We are particularly interested in individuals who bring commercial rigour, sound judgement and the confidence to challenge constructively.

Why join?
  • Use your commercial expertise for meaningful social impact
  • Gain or deepen board-level governance experience
  • Join a supportive, well-run organisation at a pivotal moment
  • See the real-world impact of strategic decisions

Trustees attend four board meetings per year (evenings, hybrid) plus occasional additional activity by agreement. Full induction and training are provided.
