On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit an Aircraft Mechanical Fitter on an initial 6-month contract. The Aircraft Mechanical Fitter is responsible for assisting in the movement, Line and Base Maintenance of the UK MFTS (RW) H135/H145 fleet. Role: Aircraft Mechanical Fitter Pay: 28.16 per hour Via Umbrella Location: Shawbury Contract: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 17:00 - 40 hours per week,6-month contract IR35 Status: Inside Security Clearance : BPSS, will require SC Clearnce Responsibilities Provide engineering operational support to Flight Operations. Accomplishment of Maintenance inspections and repairs as directed by nominated Shift Supervisor or Certifying Engineer. Work to high standards to ensure continued safe operation of the aircraft. Completion of maintenance, including airframe structure, power plant, mechanical and electrical systems in accordance with written instructions laid down by OEM. Conduct off-aircraft mechanical, power plant, component and composite technical work in workshops as required. Also required to assist in day to day running of the aircraft Hangar, including aircraft movement and general housekeeping responsibilities. Essential Skills & Qualifications Must have thorough knowledge of engine and airframe systems. Knowledge of specialised test equipment relating to engine and airframe systems. Must have up to date knowledge of : Flight/Airport Operations Aircraft Line Maintenance Aircraft Base Maintenance. Apprenticeship in Aircraft Maintenance or related discipline. Experience of Base Maintenance. Experience of Flight Operations and Line Maintenance. Desirable Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of UK Military Aviation and UK MFTS. Knowledge of CAA Part 145 and Part M regulations. Experience on H135/H145. Experience of Airbus Helicopters products. Experience of Military Aviation. Our client is currently seeking an experienced Aerospace/Aircraft Fitter with a background in structural work to help build complex assemblies for high-performance aircraft platforms. Duties as an Aircraft/Aerospace Fitter - Assemble precision-engineered metallic components into airframe sub-assemblies, following detailed instructions and diagrams. Operate a variety of hand and power tools to carry out tasks such as: Precision drilling and countersinking Rivet installation (various types) Application of aerospace-grade sealants and bonding agents Insertion of thread repair systems (e.g. helicoils), bearings, and bushes Ensure all work meets rigorous aerospace manufacturing and quality standards. Follow established safety protocols and support a clean, organised working environment by upholding 5S principles. Experience/skills needed from the Aircraft/Aerospace Fitter- Hands-on experience in aerospace assembly, ideally within a structural or airframe setting. Confident interpreting technical drawings and documentation. Knowledge of mechanical joining methods, sealants, and structural fasteners. MPI have a requirement for Aircraft Fitters to work on site in at Stansted Airport. Our client requires 4 Aircraft Fitters per day from the 12th January 2026 through to the 18th December 2026 (as with all contracts, this may be subject to change) In addition, they require a further 4 Aircraft Fitters to work opposite shifts to cover the whole roster. The Working hours are 07.00 - 19.00 Working the following shift pattern 5 on 5 off 4 on 5 off 5 on 4 off Then this cycle repeats itself from top. 5 on 5 off 4 on 5 off 5 on 4 off Rate of pay is £29.00 per hour limited. Our client has advised that as well as the shifts above, there are extra hours available each week (Overtime is not guaranteed). This contract is deemed outside of IR35 You will require your own tools as well as current Human Factors, EWIS and Fuel Tank Safety certificates. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual with experience working in a Base Maintenance environment Required Qualifications & Experience • Have completed a recognised apprenticeship, formal training program or able to demonstrate comparable qualifications and experience. • Have experience working in a Base Maintenance environment. • Ideally to have previous experience/technical knowledge of Business Jets such as Bombardier, Embraer or similar type aircraft, however client will consider applicants who may not have this. Additional Requirements • Candidates must have legal authorisation and the right to work in the UK. • Full clean UK driving licence. • Ability to obtain security clearance and hold an airside ID pass.
