Site Manager No.2 - Stevenage Large Traditional-Build Housing Scheme 600+ Home Masterplan Significant HA Delivery
My client, a leading national housebuilder, is seeking a Site Manager No.2 for a major new traditional-build residential development in Stevenage.
The scheme forms part of a substantial 600+ unit masterplan, delivering a mix of 2-5 bed homes and maisonettes within a modern, well-designed community. Approximately 40% of the development is Affordable Housing (HA), requiring strong programme management, consistent build quality and close collaboration with HA representatives and end clients.
This is a flagship, high-profile project offering excellent future progression into a full Site Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Site Manager with the day-to-day delivery of a large traditional-build scheme
- Assist in managing homes from groundworks through to final handovers
- Provide clear leadership to subcontractors and drive programme milestones
- Take ownership of defined phases or plots as capability grows
- Ensure all works meet specification, build quality requirements and agreed programme
- Coordinate labour, plant and materials to support efficient delivery
- Produce accurate progress updates and maintain site records
- Control prelims and non-productive costs across allocated areas
- Conduct regular inspections to maintain high quality standards
- Manage HA inspection cycles, including pre-plaster, first fix, second fix and final sign-offs
- Ensure compliance with all internal, external and HA/end-client requirements
- Maintain rigorous Health & Safety practices, including RAMS and site welfare
- Mentor ASMs and junior team members as appropriate
- Support snagging, trade performance and stage completions
- Assist with subcontractor payment approvals
- Promote a strong customer-focus across both HA and market-sale plots
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience as a Site Manager No.2, or a strong ASM ready for progression
- Background in traditional-build housing
- Exposure to HA / mixed-tenure delivery advantageous
- Experience working on medium to high-volume residential schemes
- CSCS
