Key Responsibilities
Project & Site Management
Manage day-to-day site operations for mechanical and pipework installations on water and wastewater treatment projects
Plan, coordinate, and supervise site activities to ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
Prepare and manage project programmes, method statements, and risk assessments (RAMS)
Coordinate labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors to meet programme milestones
Technical & Quality Control
Ensure all mechanical and pipework installations comply with WIMES, client standards, drawings, and specifications
Oversee installation of pipework systems including carbon steel, stainless steel, ductile iron, and plastic pipework
Manage inspections, testing, pressure testing, commissioning support, and quality documentation
Identify and resolve technical issues in collaboration with designers and engineers
Health, Safety & Environment
Promote and enforce a strong health & safety culture on site
Ensure full compliance with CDM Regulations, company HSEQ policies, and water industry safety standards
Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety audits
Manage permits to work, confined space activities, and lifting operations
Commercial & Contractual Management
Deliver projects in accordance with NEC3 / NEC4 contract requirements
Manage early warnings, compensation events, and change control procedures
Support the preparation of applications for payment and cost forecasts
Monitor subcontractor performance and manage variations
Stakeholder & Client Liaison
Act as the main site point of contact for the client, site supervisors, and subcontractors
Attend progress meetings, technical reviews, and client briefings
Provide clear and accurate reporting on progress, risks, and opportunities
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate site records, daily diaries, progress reports, and as-built information
Ensure completion and handover documentation is produced to programme
Support final accounts and project close-out activities
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a Project Manager or Site Manager delivering mechanical and pipework installations within the water industry
Strong working knowledge of WIMES specifications
Practical experience administering NEC3 and NEC4 contracts
Background in mechanical engineering or pipework installation
Excellent understanding of construction health & safety requirements
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
Competent in programme management and reporting
Qualifications
SMSTS (minimum)
CSCS Card (Manager or Professionally Qualified Person level)
Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience
First Aid at Work (desirable)
Confined Space / Water Hygiene (desirable)
Full UK Driving Licence
