We are currently recruiting an enthusiastic and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in Preston. This is a fantastic opportunity to support young people aged 11-16 who have a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and who benefit from a structured, nurturing and relationship-focused approach to learning.
We are proud to work in partnership with this dedicated SEMH provision, where staff work collaboratively to remove barriers to learning and help students build confidence, resilience and positive routines.
Role OverviewPosition: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Preston
Contract Type: Full Time
Rate of Pay: £475 - £550 per week
Hours: 08:30 - 15:30

Key ResponsibilitiesProviding 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
Assisting with tailored interventions and behaviour support strategies
Promoting emotional regulation, positive routines and relationship-building
Supporting learning activities and general classroom organisation
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to ensure consistent support
Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or SEN
Strong behaviour management and confidence using de-escalation strategies
A calm, empathetic and consistent approach to supporting vulnerable learners
Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Relevant qualifications such as TA Level 2/3, Youth Work or Psychology (desirable)
Ability to build trust, rapport and positive relationships with students
