Job Description
Design Manager
This would suit an experienced Design Manager ideally with a background in special-purpose machinery or automated solutions. Projects can vary in size from £50k up to £2m and often within automotive, medical, industrial and aerospace industries.
Salary £55K - £65K, 25 days holiday, pension contribution, laptop & phone
Hours Monday - Friday, 1pm finish Fridays.
The role
- Manage a small team of 4 design engineers.
- Design using 2D AutoCAD and Inventor 3D CAD software
- Design machines and systems from the concept stage through to the final detailed stage
- Involved with the planning, organising and customer meetings working closely with the project leader
- Solving problems and initiating corrective actions as required ensuring that the project is completed on time and within budget.
- Developing team skills set, motivation.
- Proactively engaging with emerging advances digital twins, Industry 4.0 principles
- Lead design reviews
- Participate in customer meetings to clarify technical requirements and present design concepts.
Person Profile
- Several years' design management experience - essential
- A senior design engineer from the automation sector will be considered
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, robotics, and automation technologies - all beneficial
