- HLTA or TA qualification (desirable, but not essential with strong experience)
- A strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A calm, patient and resilient attitude
- GCSEs in English and Maths
- A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection
The role Higher Level Teaching Assistant
As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, youll work independently and alongside teachers to plan, deliver and adapt learning to meet the needs of pupils with SEND.
You will:
- Support pupils one-to-one and in small groups
- Deliver adapted learning activities and targeted interventions
- Provide short-term classroom cover when required
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Use ICT to support learning and engagement
- Contribute to assessments, progress tracking and reports
- Act as a key worker for a named child, providing consistency and support
