Working in our Non Delegated Authority (NDA) motor unit, the role of 'file handler' is to handle a caseload of small claims track litigated motor instructions on behalf of key insurer clients, from issue of proceedings through to Trial. It will be necessary for the candidate to be able to demonstrate an ability to impress the client with the extent of their legal knowledge and provide clear unambiguous advice on the strategy for bringing a claim to its resolution. A clear view on both relevant case law and appropriate evidence will be necessary. Whilst not essential, it would be preferable for candidates to have experience of handling indemnity disputed cases and counterclaims. Responsibilities Manage a caseload of RTA OIC/SCT personal injury claims from inception to settlement. Handle claims through the Official Injury Claim (OIC) portal and other relevant claims portals. Assess liability and review evidence relating to road traffic accidents. Obtain and review medical reports and other supporting documentation when required. Obtain necessary evidence to support and calculate general and special damages, including but not limited to loss of earnings and treatment costs. Negotiate settlement offers with insurance companies. Provide clear legal advice to clients. Ensure compliance with relevant pre-action protocols and Civil Procedure Rules. Maintain accurate records using the firm's case management system. Work to departmental targets and performance indicators Preparing and drafting legal documents, including pleadings and witness statements Negotiating settlements and representing clients in court when necessary Working in a target driven, fast paced environment Collaborating with colleagues to ensure the successful outcome of cases. Keeping up to date with changes in relevant laws and regulations Person Specification: Previous experience handling RTA personal injury claims. Knowledge of the Official Injury Claim (OIC) portal and the personal injury claims process. Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet deadlines. Proven billing track record of handling a litigated caseload from cradle to grave. Knowledge of the civil procedure rules, precedent, trends in litigation, and an ability and willingness to utilise the same to achieve the best possible outcome for our clients Strong negotiation and communication skills. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Law degree, LPC, SQE, CILEX qualification, or relevant legal experience (desirable but not essential).
