We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work at a primary school in Banbury, Oxford to support teaching and learning across the school and is responsible for leading learning activities under the direction of the class teacher. The HLTA may also take responsibility for planning and delivering lessons, covering classes, and providing targeted support to individuals or groups of pupils.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning SupportLead planned learning activities for individuals, groups, or whole classes.
Deliver lessons when teachers are absent, ensuring continuity of learning.
Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and developing key skills.
Assist with assessment by observing, recording, and providing feedback on pupil progress.
Adapt learning materials to meet the needs of pupils, including those with SEND.
Maintain a positive, orderly, and safe learning environment.
Implement behaviour-management strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement.
Supervise pupils during learning activities, transitions, and break times as required.
Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils to promote wellbeing and confidence.
Support pupils with personal development, social skills, and emotional regulation.
Work closely with teachers and SENCO to support pupils with additional needs.
Assist with lesson planning, curriculum delivery, and resource preparation.
Participate in training, staff meetings, and school development activities.
Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and external professionals.
Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and follow school policies at all times.
