Hello Education is delighted to be working in partnership with a number of specialist SEND schools across Darlington to recruit dedicated and compassionateSEND Teaching Assistants.
This rewarding opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people aged 219 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play an essential role in helping every pupil reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally within a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND, helping them engage fully in their learning and development.
Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons tailored to individual learning needs and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Use creative and adaptive strategies to promote engagement, confidence, and independence among pupils.
Help to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour with patience and professionalism.
Encourage and support pupils to develop life skills, resilience, and self-esteem.
Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to ensure consistent and effective provision for all pupils.
We welcome applications from individuals who:
Have experience (or a strong interest in gaining experience) working with children or young people with additional educational needs in a UK-based school or care setting.
Demonstrate excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
Are patient, proactive, and dedicated to supporting inclusive education.
Hold anEnhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)certificate (or are willing to obtain one).
Hold aLevel 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, ideally with a specialism in SEND.
