Job Description

A major commercial vehicle manufacturer is looking for qualified and experienced HGV Technicians to join their expanding workshop team.
ROLE:HGV Technician - HGV MechanicLOCATION: CroydonSALARY: £21 per hourHOURS: 42.5 per week:14:00 to 23:00, Monday to Friday overtime paid at 130% with a rotating Saturday 7-12BENEFITS:Overtime: 130% overtime, 25 annual leave per year, Carry over up to 5 days annual leave per year. 1 x Life Assurance, Company Pensions contribution of up to 5%, Private Medical Insurance, Bonus £300 per month, incentives and commission schemes, Further Education Assistance
ROLE: As an HGV Technician you are responsible for the maintenance, service, and repair of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). You ensure that all vehicles are maintained to a high safety and performance standard, identifying and repairing any mechanical or electrical issues.
  • Perform detailed vehicle inspections to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.
  • Assess issues related to engines, transmissions, brake systems, and other critical components of HGVs.
  • Conduct repairs on various vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and suspension.
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire checks and replacements, and fluid top-ups.
  • Implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and enhance vehicle reliability.
  • Monitor and record vehicle performance to anticipate potential problems and schedule timely interventions.
  • Communicate effectively with the Workshop Controller and the services team to explain repairs and maintenance needs.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in HGV technology and repair techniques.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Current driving licence
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and repair equipment specific to HGVs.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical repair skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements
