Overview
We're seeking a talented engineer to lead control panel schematic design and PLC programming (Allen Bradley) across a variety of industrial automation projects. You'll design and develop Main, Scan, and Speed control panels, creating robust, high-quality systems that keep our operations running efficiently.

Location: Remote (occasional travel to Stoke-on-Trent)
Contract Type: Contract (Outside IR35)

About the Role
This hands-on role combines electrical design, automation control, and PLC software development, giving you the opportunity to contribute across the full project lifecycle - from concept through to commissioning. Starter PLC code and reference electrical schematics from existing programs will be provided to support development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical schematics for control panels (Main, Scan, Speed).
- Create and maintain wiring diagrams and layouts using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar tools.
- Program and configure Allen Bradley / Rockwell PLCs (RSLogix, Studio 5000).
- Test, debug, and commission PLC software and electrical systems.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical teams for seamless integration.
- Produce documentation including test reports, panel layouts, and system drawings.
- Support troubleshooting and resolve technical queries during build and commissioning.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in control panel design and PLC programming.
- Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley / Rockwell PLCs (RSLogix or Studio 5000).
- Experience producing schematics and electrical documentation (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
- Understanding of industrial automation and control systems.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with other PLCs (Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, etc.).
- Knowledge of HMI or SCADA systems.
- Background in manufacturing, process, or machinery control.
- Understanding of panel build, wiring, and commissioning.
Qualifications
- Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical or Automation Engineering, or equivalent experience.
