Toolmaker Job Summary: Were looking for a skilled and detail-focused Toolmaker to join the manufacturing team. Youll be responsible for building, maintaining, and repairing precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and moulds used throughout production. The role calls for accuracy, good problem-solving ability, and solid experience using manual and CNC machines including mills, lathes, and grinders. Key Responsibilities: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, CAD designs, and specifications Manufacture, repair, and maintain tools, dies, jigs, moulds, and fixtures Operate manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, surface grinders) to produce precision components Inspect completed tools using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges) Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure tooling supports production requirements Troubleshoot, adapt, and improve existing tooling to enhance reliability and performance Keep accurate records of tool specifications, maintenance, and repairs Follow health & safety procedures and maintain a tidy, well-organised work area Requirements: Time-served Toolmaker or equivalent vocational qualification Proven experience within toolmaking or a precision engineering environment Confident interpreting technical drawings and using precision measuring instruments Strong understanding of machining processes, materials, and shop mathematics CAD/CAM experience advantageous Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Tool & Die Making or Precision Machining Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering industry Understanding of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices Working Conditions: Workshop-based role with exposure to typical manufacturing noise and machinery Some lifting and manual handling required PPE must be worn at all times Whats on Offer: Structured training and mentoring programme Opportunity to gain recognised qualifications in Toolmaking or Engineering Genuine career progression within an established manufacturer Supportive, experienced team and positive working culture JBRP1_UKTJ
