Following a retirement within the team we have an exciting and rare opportunity available to work in the council's in-house vehicle, plant and equipment workshop in Crawley.
This role offers a chance to work on all aspects of testing, maintenance and repair, working on a wide variety of vehicles and equipment from HGVs, Agricultural tractors, and sweepers to vans, cars, and ride on mowers to handheld tools such as chainsaws and strimmer's.
The position therefore requires a thorough and up to date knowledge and experience of all aspects of road transport engineering typically gained from a recognised apprenticeship including: electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic disciplines with an understanding of the relevant legal requirements.
You will work closely with users of these assets to help them understand how to keep their equipment properly maintained and operational, whilst minimising down time, so being customer focused with good communication and interpersonal skills is a prerequisite, along with having a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
