A message from the Principal

As Principal, I am thrilled at the prospect of introducing you to Outwood Academy Carlton, a proud member of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, serving the community of Royston, Carlton and its surrounding areas. Our core purpose, to 'Continually and repeatedly grow, well informed, "good" human beings who are armed with the character, skill, emotional intelligence and qualifications to be personally, occupationally and/or professionally successful people,' is at the heart of everything we do. This aligns seamlessly with the Trust's vision of 'students first, raising standards and transforming lives,' ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive.

I am immensely proud that our students possess a strong moral code and behave well in and outside of lessons and they actively contribute to the wider community. Our students display an in-depth understanding of protected characteristics and understand the importance of fundamental British values. As an advocate of research informed pedagogical practice I am passionate about our 5 pillars of learning. Equally, I am proud of how we explicitly teach behaviours through our personal development curriculum and our positive discipline for learning and life practices. This allows all students to understand how to be safe, be responsible, be respectful and be extraordinary in the 21st century. The unwavering dedication of our staff, who know the needs of students and respond accordingly are pivotal in delivering this holistic education.
