Quality Control Technician Annual Salary: 32,517 (including shift premium) Location: Kendal Job Type: Full-time Earlies: 06:00-13:30 Monday to Friday Lates: 13:15-21:15 Monday to Thursday and 13:15-18:45 Friday. Join our team as a Quality Control Technician, based at our headquarters in Kendal. This role involves a rotating 2-week shift pattern and offers a total remuneration of 32,517 per annum. As a Quality Control Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and compliance of our products. Day-to-day of the role: Product Quality & Release: Review and approve batch records, in-process checks, and laboratory results for raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods. Perform dispositioning of materials and products, ensuring compliance with internal specifications and regulatory requirements. Liaise with Production, Laboratories, and Supply Chain to ensure timely release of products. Maintain accurate and traceable documentation for all batch dispositions. Comply with safety and hygiene procedures, including adopting safe working practices and using required protective clothing and safety equipment. Customer and Vendor Complaints: Receive, log, investigate, and respond to all customer and vendor complaints within agreed timelines. Perform root cause analyses, coordinate testing or sampling when necessary, and document findings. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prevent recurrence and improve supplier quality performance. Track and trend complaints to identify recurring issues or emerging risks. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that all activities comply with GMP, GFSI, BRCGS & Regulatory (UK/EU/US/CA) standards. Assist with internal, supplier, and regulatory audits, providing documentation and evidence as required. Contribute to the review and update of Quality Management System (QMS) documents, including SOPs, forms, and work instructions. Support training of staff in quality standards, procedures, and hygiene practices. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Production, Laboratories, R&D, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues. Liaise with external manufacturers and suppliers to maintain consistent quality expectations. Communicate quality performance, trends, and improvement actions to management and stakeholders. Required Skills & Qualifications: Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related discipline. Proven experience in a quality role within the food manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or medical devices industry. Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and quality systems. Excellent organizational, analytical, and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office. Professional communication skills at all levels.
