What you'll be doing: This role is a varied and impactful opportunity in a rapidly growing organisation and will report to the Finance Director, with management responsibility of the Assistant Accountant and relationship with our outsourced accounting providers. Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Oversee all accounting operations, including AP, AR, bookkeeping, financial reporting, tax compliance, and cash management. Produce accurate monthly management accounts and deliver year-end statutory accounts, managing the audit process. Manage grant reporting, quarterly claims, and associated audits for government and charitable funders. Maintain strong internal controls by developing and documenting financial processes and policies. Prepare short- and medium-term cash forecasts and implement effective cash management policies. Manage, develop, and support the Assistant Accountant. Oversee and performance manage the outsourced accounting provider. Partner with senior leaders to develop dynamic income forecasts and ensure progress on income generation actions. Build processes and controls for new business activities, including data access and recontact study revenue streams. Work with finance colleagues to improve programme and activity based forecasting and reporting. Support the Finance Director with ad hoc tasks and provide cover for key finance roles when required. To succeed in this role, you will have broad financial management experience across Financial Operations, Financial Accounting, and Financial Control. You will also have some of the following skills: Consistent, accurate, and controlled delivery of finance operations in line with policies and guidelines. Recognised accounting qualification with 5+ years' finance experience, including at least one year outside practice. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial statement preparation; experience managing auditors and year end processes. Highly structured, detail focused, and able to produce accurate reporting and build trusted relationships. Proactive, self motivated communicator with experience in fast changing environments. Experience in treasury, banking, and working capital management. Knowledge of government and charitable funding mechanisms is advantageous. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide others. From £77,000 per annum basic salary.
