Location: South East London
Contract Type: Temporary - Ongoing
Pay Rate: 27 - 32 per hour

Job Description:

A South London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Void Surveyor to join their Housing Repairs and Maintenance team on a temporary basis. This role is crucial in ensuring void properties are inspected, specified, and brought up to standard efficiently and in line with legislative and organisational requirements.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed inspections of void properties across the borough to assess the condition and identify required works.

  • Prepare detailed schedules of work and specifications for refurbishment, repair, and re-let of void properties.

  • Manage the voids process from inspection to completion, ensuring properties are turned around efficiently and meet re-letting standards.

  • Liaise with contractors, internal teams, and housing officers to monitor progress, quality of work, and adherence to timescales.

  • Ensure all works comply with health and safety regulations, building standards, and council procedures.

  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and photographic evidence of inspections and completed works.

  • Identify any potential disrepair or structural issues and escalate appropriately.

  • Provide technical advice to other departments and assist in improving the void turnaround process.



Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Surveyor within social housing, specifically in voids or property maintenance.

  • Strong technical knowledge of building construction, refurbishment, and repairs.

  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and health & safety requirements.

  • Ability to work independently and manage a busy, mobile workload.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
