We are looking for a motivated and organised Temporary Accommodation Officer to join our Housing Needs team. This role plays a key part in managing placements into temporary accommodation, ensuring households are supported during their stay, and working towards sustainable move-on options.
Key Responsibilities- Manage placements into temporary and emergency accommodation, ensuring allocations are appropriate and comply with legislation and policy.
- Support households placed in temporary accommodation, responding to queries and addressing any tenancy or property-related issues.
- Carry out property inspections and ensure accommodation standards are met.
- Monitor rent accounts, arrears, and housing benefit claims, providing advice and support to residents on financial matters.
- Work collaboratively with housing providers, landlords, and support services to ensure positive outcomes for residents.
- Assist with move-on planning, rehousing, and homelessness prevention where possible.
- Maintain accurate casework records and contribute to service performance targets.
About You- Experience working within housing, homelessness, or tenancy management.
- Knowledge of homelessness legislation, temporary accommodation duties, and welfare benefits.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage a busy caseload.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work empathetically with vulnerable households.
- IT literate with good administrative and record-keeping skills.
