Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and organised Temporary Accommodation Officer to join our Housing Needs team. This role plays a key part in managing placements into temporary accommodation, ensuring households are supported during their stay, and working towards sustainable move-on options.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage placements into temporary and emergency accommodation, ensuring allocations are appropriate and comply with legislation and policy.
  • Support households placed in temporary accommodation, responding to queries and addressing any tenancy or property-related issues.
  • Carry out property inspections and ensure accommodation standards are met.
  • Monitor rent accounts, arrears, and housing benefit claims, providing advice and support to residents on financial matters.
  • Work collaboratively with housing providers, landlords, and support services to ensure positive outcomes for residents.
  • Assist with move-on planning, rehousing, and homelessness prevention where possible.
  • Maintain accurate casework records and contribute to service performance targets.
About You
  • Experience working within housing, homelessness, or tenancy management.
  • Knowledge of homelessness legislation, temporary accommodation duties, and welfare benefits.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage a busy caseload.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work empathetically with vulnerable households.
  • IT literate with good administrative and record-keeping skills.
