Ensuring the safe storage of tools, equipment and materials including where necessary the manufacturing of racks and other equipment. To cover for the Food Technology Technician during any absence as required. Responsible for the construction and preparation of equipment used in lessons and demonstrations by teaching staff. Responsible for the mounting and displaying of students work including the use of reprographics and audio-visual equipment where appropriate. Safe storage of hazardous materials according to COSHH regulations, including provision and use of appropriate PPE including when necessary the correct disposal of such materials. Implementation and maintenance of an efficient and effective system of stock control ensuring the safe distribution of stock within the technology department; ensure the accuracy and safe keeping of all records of alcohols, poisons, inflammable liquids, lifting equipment and the like used within the department. Assist staff by demonstrating new software to students as appropriate, e.g. CAD CAM. Responsible for the preparation and safe use of CNC machinery including keeping abreast of developments in the use thereof. Where appropriate instruct, guide and train staff, individual and/or student groups in the use of appropriate CAD/CAM, Robotics, 2D & 3D Design, software and hardware. Preparing, retrieving and cleaning of equipment and materials for lessons, activities and examinations in curriculum areas. Assist staff with demonstrations and the supervision of students where necessary including the emergency or practical oversight of small student groups carrying out project work under the direction of a member of staff. Undertake training and development commensurate with the post. Any other duties within the spirit and scope of the grading as requested or required. You will be supported by me, Rob Holland.
