Trainee Estimator Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Department: Estimating About Us R Sees Flooring Co. Limited is a well-established and growing commercial flooring contractor operating across the UK. Due to continued business growth, we are looking to recruit a Trainee Estimator to join our Estimating Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within the construction and flooring industry, with full training, ongoing support and a clear progression pathway towards becoming an Estimator. The Role As a Trainee Estimator, you will support the Estimating Department with the preparation, coordination and administration of quotations, tenders and commercial documentation. You will gain hands-on experience across all aspects of the estimating process, including digital take-offs, supplier pricing, cost build-ups, tender administration and client liaison. The role is designed to provide structured training and long-term development within a fast-paced commercial construction environment. This position would suit someone who is organised, numerate, eager to learn and able to work accurately under pressure whilst developing strong commercial awareness. Key Responsibilities Assisting with incoming enquiries, tenders and quotation requests Logging and organising drawings, specifications and tender documents Setting up and maintaining quotation files and estimating records Carrying out digital take-offs and quantity measurements under supervision Assisting with flooring quantity schedules and material calculations Requesting supplier pricing, technical information and lead times Supporting material and labour cost build-ups Assisting with quotation preparation, revisions and tender submissions Liaising professionally with clients, suppliers and internal departments Supporting quotation follow-ups and project handovers Maintaining product libraries, supplier records and estimating databases Supporting the wider estimating team with day-to-day administration What You'll Learn Flooring products and installation systems Reading drawings, specifications and tender documents Digital measuring and take-off processes Material and labour pricing principles Supplier and manufacturer coordination Commercial awareness within the construction industry Tender and quotation preparation Estimating systems and document control procedures Professional client communication and project coordination What We're Looking For Essential Skills & Experience Good standard of numeracy and literacy Strong attention to detail and accuracy Good organisational and time management skills Confident and professional communication skills Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word Positive attitude and willingness to learn Ability to work independently and as part of a team Desirable Previous administration, customer service or office experience Experience within construction, flooring or estimating environments Familiarity with drawings, plans or technical documents Exposure to digital take-off or estimating software Personal Attributes Positive and proactive attitude Reliable and professional approach Methodical and well organised Keen to build long-term knowledge within the flooring industry Able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines Comfortable working within a fast-paced commercial environment What We Offer Full training and structured career development Clear progression opportunities into an Estimator role Friendly and supportive working environment Long-term career prospects within a growing business Company pension scheme Employee discount On-site parking Career Development R Sees Flooring Co. Estimator / Quotation Manager Lutterworth Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 Performance related bonus The company: Our client is a specialist in the design, manufacture, and installation of steel structures, supporting large-scale warehouse and logistics environments across the UK. Their work includes mezzanine flooring, structural steelwork, and integrated warehouse solutions, supplying major end users such as large distribution centres and retail operations. The business operates from a single UK site in Lutterworth, supported by an in-house design team overseas. The Role: They re now seeking an Estimator / Quotation Manager to take full ownership of incoming enquiries and quotations, working directly alongside the Managing Director. This is a pivotal role within the business, where you will be responsible for assessing opportunities, coordinating with internal teams, and producing commercially viable quotations that convert into secured projects. Projects typically range from £10,000 to £2 million in value, with around live enquiries at any one time. You will work closely with the internal design team to validate concepts, ensure feasibility, and pull together accurate proposals. Your responsibilities will include: • Manage all incoming enquiries from initial review through to quotation • Liaise with internal design teams to assess feasibility and project scope • Produce detailed and competitive quotations • Act as a key point of contact for clients throughout the quotation process • Follow up quotations to maximise conversion rates • Manage multiple enquiries simultaneously • Review successful and unsuccessful bids to improve future performance • Support continuous improvement of internal systems and processes What we re looking for in an Estimator / Quotation Manager: • Experience in estimating or quotations within steel fabrication, construction, or similar • Strong understanding of steelwork, including welding, coatings, and fabrication processes • Ability to read and interpret design drawings (no design required) • Commercial awareness and experience dealing with clients • Organised and able to manage a high volume of work • Confident, proactive, and comfortable making decisions • Full UK driving licence and ability to commute to Lutterworth The Benefits: • Competitive salary £40,000 - £55,000 (DOE) • Performance-related bonus • 21 days holiday + bank holidays • Pension • Early start/finish: 6:00am 3:30pm, Monday to Friday • Clear opportunity to progress as the business continues to grow • Opportunity to work directly with the Managing Director and influence business operations How to Apply: If you have experience in estimating within steel or construction and are looking for a role where you can take full ownership of projects and play a key part in a growing business, we d love to hear from you.
