A well-established, self-delivering groundworks and civil engineering contractor is looking to add an experienced Estimator to its team in Cheadle Hulme on a temp to perm basis. The Estimator will price civil engineering, groundworks and reinforced concrete frame packages, producing competitive tenders that win the right work at the right margin. The Estimator Role Build accurate estimates from drawings, specifications and tender documents Take off quantities for labour, plant and materials across groundworks and civils schemes Source competitive quotations from suppliers and specialist subcontractors Break down costs, overheads and risk, and put forward value engineering or alternative methods where they add value Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings and handle clarifications Work closely with procurement, project managers and site teams so what is priced matches what is delivered Prepare full handover packs when a tender is won, highlighting risks, assumptions and exclusions Keep market rates current and maintain a strong network of suppliers and subcontractors About You The successful Estimator will have a proven track record in groundworks, civil engineering or RC frame, with groundworks as your core strength. Sound knowledge of drainage, foundations, earthworks, highways and utilities Confident using Valesco or similar estimating software, plus Excel Able to read and interpret drawings, specifications and contracts HNC, HND or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying; RICS or CIOB membership is an advantage Organised enough to run several tenders at once against tight deadlines Why Apply As an Estimator here, your pricing directly shapes which projects the business wins and how profitable they are. ESTIMATOR REFURBISHMENT & COMMERCIAL FIT-OUT Location: Basildon, Essex Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum Sector: Refurbishment, Commercial Fit-Out and Internal Finishes A well-established refurbishment and commercial fit-out contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its team at its Basildon head office. The company delivers commercial refurbishment, maintenance and fit-out projects across London and the Southeast, typically valued up to £500,000. Its projects span commercial, education and public-sector environments, including work within live and occupied buildings. THE ROLE You will take responsibility for pricing and preparing competitive tenders for refurbishment and fit-out projects, working closely with clients, subcontractors, Project Managers and Contracts Managers. Key responsibilities include: • Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents • Completing accurate measurements and take-offs • Pricing labour, materials and subcontract packages • Issuing and managing subcontractor enquiries • Analysing quotations and identifying commercial risks • Preparing tender submissions, clarifications and cost breakdowns • Attending site visits and pre-tender meetings • Liaising with clients and the operational team throughout pre-construction • Supporting tender handovers following successful bids REQUIREMENTS The successful candidate will have previous estimating experience gained within refurbishment, commercial fit-out, internal specialist subcontracting.
