Responding to commercial and grant-based opportunities, obtaining research funding aligned with NPL's strategic priorities.
Collaborating with stakeholders to improve methods and develop tools for future underwater acoustic applications that require traceability.
Partnering with other NPL departments and developing new research and service opportunities through collaborations.
Managing science portfolios, developing project proposals, ensuring project milestones and budgets are met, and fostering partnerships.
Working with industry to establish collaborative agreements, creating innovative research programs, and transferring successes to industry.
The position is based at NPL's Teddington site, involving occasional travel for customer visits, measurements, and representing NPL at events.
To be successful, you will be recognized internationally for your expertise in underwater acoustics and have:
Proven experience in leading and conducting international research, with publications in recognized journals.
Experience in standards development or contributing to underwater acoustics standards.
A track record of developing technical solutions funded by civil or defense sectors.
Experience presenting results through reports, manuscripts, and oral presentations.
Experience in developing and executing business strategies for technical initiatives.
Management experience of large-scale research programs.
Leadership experience motivating scientific and technical teams.
Beyond expertise, you should be inspirational, influential, and a relationship builder, with the scientific and commercial awareness to help NPL achieve its ambitions.
