Job Title: Manual Lathe Turner / Borer

Location: Brownhills
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Pay Rate: 16.00 per hour

About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Manual Lathe Turner / Borer to join our precision engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinist who takes pride in producing high-quality components and thrives in a hands-on, technical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate manual lathes and borers to produce precision components to exact specifications.
• Perform fabrication tasks, including milling.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
• Safely handle and store materials, ensuring warehouse organisation and stock control.
• Conduct routine maintenance on machinery and tools to ensure consistent performance.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to identify and resolve production issues.
• Maintain accurate job records, including materials used and work completed.
• Apply basic maths skills for accurate measurements and calculations.

Qualifications / Experience

• Manual lathe operation: 7 years' experience (preferred).
• Proven experience in operating manual lathes and borers.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is advantageous.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software for design purposes.
• Experience in materials handling, tooling, and using hand tools.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with good communication skills.
• Proactive problem-solving approach with strong attention to detail.
