Manage all the cultivations and planting. Supervise a core team of 5 staff, plus up to 20 seasonal workers during peak periods. Plan production to facilitate early harvests and timely shipments to key export markets. Manage facilities with 7,000 tonnes of on-site storage and grading capacity. Be hands-on and have experience in potato planting and harvesting machinery. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: A good knowledge of general potato agronomy, crop production and storage. Practical hands on experience within potato farming. An understanding of modern machinery. Hold PA1 and PA2 certificates. FACTS and/or BASIS would be advantageous. Formal qualification preferred. Job Description: Assistant Farm Manager RJ & AE Godfrey is a family run arable farming business operating several sites across North and South Lincolnshire. This role is of Assistant Farm Manager at the company's southern-most farm, growing potatoes, sugar beet, and combinable crops, based on Holbeach Marsh in South Lincolnshire. The role would suit a self-motivated, ambitious person looking to advance their career in agriculture. The role will combine farm management and recording activity with hands-on field and workshop work. The farm management side of the role will include providing support to the highly experienced farm manager in all aspects of running the farm, including recording, compliance, health and safety, working with the farm's agronomist to identify and prevent risks to crops, managing teams of full-time staff, contractors and temporary workers. Managing grain and potato crop stores. The field and workshop side of the role will include supervision and relief operation of tractors, sprayer, planting/drilling, harvesting, ploughing, cultivation, general maintenance/cleanliness of machinery, preparation of implements, maintenance of storage areas and loading crop stores. Machinery includes a John Deere 8320RT and 8R.345 as our main tractors with smaller Claas, New Holland and John Deere tractors in support. A New Holland Combine. Lemken cultivators and 6 metre combination drill for cereals and pulses. Self-propelled and trailed potato harvesters. An Amazon 5200 Sprayer. To be successful in this role you must be willing and quick to learn, good at supervising and working with people as well as taking instruction, be self-motivated and prepared to work on your own initiative, be prepared to work flexibly, including long hours (and weekends) at busy times of year.
