Duty of Care Limited
Barnard Castle, County Durham
Working in our Residential Children's Homes is a reward within itself, it means being part of a young person's story who has not had the best start in life, giving them love and the right environment to allow them to grow. Our residential support workers are key for the young people we support, as they enable them to get back their childhood, make memories and create a nurturing network around them in order for them to face the adult world, which is an all-round rewarding role. Established in 2009, Duty of Care Limited provides high quality care for children and young people with emotional, behavioural and social difficulties. This means at times the role can be challenging, both physically and emotionally which we as a company recognise and ensure support is readily available with the management team having an open-door policy. The company provides a therapeutic service to our young people and staff, meaning we have psychological input to gain a deeper understanding of trauma and the impact this has on our young people. A therapeutic approach allows us to work together to support the young people in making attachments, and to understand the reasons why behaviour can be displayed rather than focusing on the behaviour itself. This allows our young people to feel safe and understood by focusing on playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy which in turn allows the young people to build trust with caregivers and develop healthy coping mechanisms, especially when dealing with challenging behaviours or traumatic experiences. Your role will be to take care of our young people as any family home would. Day to day activities include helping the young people get ready for school, helping with homework, cooking, cleaning and being a positive role model. Evenings and weekends are for fun where a range of activities take place such as horse riding, BMX club, days out/holidays, at home activities, cinemas, trampolining, swimming, football, go karting to name a few but the list is extensive depending on the likes and interests of each young person. The key is to tap into each person's need, wants and potential and then guide them to a positive fulfilling future. Working at Duty of care will never be dull What Duty of care will do for you You are destined for great things, and that deserves to be rewarded, especially for your hard work and commitment. Your benefits will include: Salary: Base salary of Pay: £30,000.00-£33,840.00 per year Training: A full, in depth induction. Training with the training hub. Restraint training. Attachment training and if needed signing you up for your NVQ level 3/4 qualification Holiday: 28 days holidays Progression: If you want to progress within the organisation, future opportunities could be made available Wellbeing: Many wellbeing tools and advice including external counselling Meals provided while you work Stunning working environment in the heart of the village with scenic views Recommend a friend scheme, just ask for more information Sickness bonus every 6 months What we look for Here at Duty of care we celebrate each person as an individual and understand we all have our very own uniqueness. Our young people come from all walks of life, diverse backgrounds and with different needs and our workforce reflects that diversity, so that our teams can engage, encourage and inspire our young people to be themselves. You don't need experience, but there are a few things we'll be looking for from you: A 'can do' attitude - a team player who wants to be part of the bigger picture We genuinely care about our young people (and each other) so honesty and empathy is a must The resilience to be able to deal with challenging situations A full UK driving licence which you've held for at least 12 months and access to your own vehicle (as well as business insurance) If you don't have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), we'll pay for you to study and support you every step of the way Please note we do not offer sponsorships Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: £27,000.00-£31,000.00 per year Additional pay: Bonus scheme Loyalty bonus Benefits: Casual dress Discounted or free food Employee discount On-site parking Schedule: Day shift Weekend availability Work Location: In person
