Behaviour Support Assistant Alternative Provision

We are looking for a committed and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join our vibrant alternative provision, supporting both primary and secondary students.

Our alternative provision is a specialised educational setting dedicated to helping young people who are unable to access mainstream education due to behavioural, emotional, social, or special educational needs. Our goal is to create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where students can develop vital skills, rebuild confidence, and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support students with behavioural and emotional difficulties, encouraging engagement with learning.
• Assist in implementing behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Provide individual support to help students access the curriculum and develop social skills.
• Foster a calm and positive atmosphere that promotes learning and personal growth.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies to support student progress.
• Observe, monitor, and record student behaviour and development.
• Help with daily routines, transitions, and maintaining a safe environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working with children or young people, especially those with behavioural challenges.
• A strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation methods.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, resilience, and a compassionate attitude.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• A relevant qualification (such as Level 2/3 Supporting Children and Young People or equivalent) is preferred but not essential.
