Position Overview: Join our dynamic training team and play a key role in developing the next generation of Caterpillar engineers. As a Technical Trainer - Apprenticeships, you will deliver hands-on, high-impact training to apprentices working with cutting-edge equipment in the Construction Equipment and Electric Power sectors. You will help shape the next generation of engineers by mentoring apprentices and supporting them through to their End Point Assessment (EPA).

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver structured training aligned to:

    • CEMT & LBSE Level 2 & 3 Apprenticeship Standards (Construction Equipment Maintenance Technician)

    • MOET & EMT Level 3 Apprenticeship Standards (Maintenance Operations Engineering Technician - Electric Power)

  • Support apprentices throughout their journey:

    • Assess E-portfolio assignments and provide constructive feedback

    • Conduct regular progress reviews and set development goals

  • Use blended learning techniques to create inclusive and engaging sessions

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to programme reporting

  • Collaborate with internal teams to align training with business needs

  • Champion diversity and inclusion in recruitment and training

  • Continuously improve training delivery based on feedback and evaluation

  • Stay current with industry standards and maintain your own professional development

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance or a related field

  • Relevant engineering experience in construction, electric power, or similar

  • Caterpillar equipment knowledge, or the drive and aptitude to learn

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Confident in using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to deliver engaging, structured training

  • Understanding of Health & Safety and EDI (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion)

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering apprenticeship or further education programmes

  • Assessor or teaching qualifications (e.g., TAQA, A1, Assessor Award) or willingness to achieve with support

  • Coaching or mentoring experience
