  • Ensure compliance with zoo licensing, health & safety, and regulatory standards
  • Oversee animal habitats and guest safety across walk-through areas and Safari-Drive
  • Collaborate on budgeting, capex planning, and operational scheduling
  • Drive continuous improvement in welfare, sustainability, education, and biodiversity
  • Foster strong relationships with external zoological and conservation organisations
  • Support staff training, performance reviews, and workforce planning
  • Coordinate effectively with maintenance, horticulture, and guest services teams
About You
Essential:
  • Degree in Animal Management or a related discipline
  • Proven leadership experience in a zoological environment
  • Hands-on experience working with a broad range of species
  • Strong understanding of welfare, conservation, and compliance standards
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and people management skills
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple priorities
Desirable:
  • DMZAA qualification
  • Experience with zoo licensing and audits
  • Knowledge of H&S protocols in zoological operations
  • Firearms team experience (preferred, not essential)
We're looking for a calm, confident, and solutions-oriented leader who can inspire teams, drive operational excellence, and stay focused in a dynamic, ever-changing environment.
